Day 48 was a challenging day. 85 miles, 2,875 feet of climbing and you guessed it, another headwind. At mile 47 we stopped for lunch in Quincy. This is a really cool town. Local investors in Quincy were largely responsible for the development of the Coca-Cola company into a worldwide conglomerate. The Coca-Cola boom is rumored to be home to many millionaires and from the bloggers perspective it is evident.
We are on the homestrech with just four days to go before reaching St. Augustine Beach.
This part of the Florida panhandle has lots of rolling hills similar to the Texas Hill Country.
The windmill was spinning today with strong SE winds with horses grazing in the pasture.
The bloggers noticed this mural at mile 60 in Havana. It was somewhat of a revalation since we thought we were cycling the southern tier and in fact have been cycling the Old Spanish Trail for part of the journey.
Notice the start at San Diego and finish in St. Augustine with many of the towns we stayed at in between like Yuma, Douglas, Gila Bend, Rodeo, El Paso, Ft. Hancock, Marianna, Tallahassee etc...
After we left Havanah, we were on the Orchard Pond Parkway toll road for 7 miles. It was actually lightly traveled and pleasant to cycle on. The last ten miles were a bit more challenging with with no shoulders, but urban drivers in Tallahassee were courteous and respectful.
After the ride we dropped into Back Roads Crossing for happy hour. We had a great time with numerous coasters.
At the rider meeting, Bubba handed out these shirts to the riders. Check out what we have endured on C2C.
Tomorrow we cycle 76 miles to Live Oak and are expecting storms and heavy rain in the morning.

This year's C2C has definitely had more than its share of lousy weather. So glad that last year had better weather. I hope someone has a bottle or two of champagne for you guys when you reach St. Augustine!
