We stayed at an amazing YMCA in Pensacola. The Bubba Watson foundation (pro golfer) helped renovate this two years into a world class sports facility within a few blocks of downtown Pensacola. This was our favorite overnight location on the tour with many choices to enjoy shopping, coffee, restaurants and a vibrant downtown. Day 45 was a great day, but ended in a close call for Adrian.
The views of the bay as we cycled towards Milton were splendid.
The day started with a relaxing morning with fellow coasters at Fosko Coffee Barre in Pensacola prior to the ride. Seen here are Mike, Adrian, John, Captain and Texas Dave.
Another postcard view of the bay north of Pensacola.
We are spending the evening at the KLA campground outside of Milton, FL. Pictured here are some of the Bubba Dome Keltly tents in this peaceful campground setting.
On a more somber note, Adrian had a close call this afternoon. On highway 90 (55 mph speed limit) he was cycling on a 3 foot wide shoulder and luckily looked up in his sunglass bike mirror. A black SUV nearly 2.5 feet over the fog line on the shoulder was coming at him. Luckily, Adrian cycled off the shoulder and into a grass ditch. The SUV passed and never moved off the shoulder. It would have been a direct hit. A guardian angel saved his life today and we are very thankful!!

So glad Adrian's guardian angel was cycling with him today and that he is O.K. This is just so scary. Keep that angel with you for the rest of the ride.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy - appreciated.
DeleteThis is scarey. So happy nothing happened.
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure.
DeleteVery lucky man. Totally changed how I cycled today. Very defensive now with 5 seconds looking forward then looking back. Literally confirmed today every approaching car was in their lane and/or moving over.
