Another continued stretch of nice rides from Louisiana and crossed 70 miles and 2,050 feet of climbing with ideal riding conditions.
Drivers are courteous, speed limits are managable, roads are in nice shape and the weather is beautiful (upper 70s and low humidity). As we cycle towards the gulf stronger south headwinds have become a factor with 10+ mph headwinds.
What has surprised the authors most are the rolling hills and terrain that looks similar to northern WI with the pine forests and lakes. One of the climbs today was an 8.2% grade, so don't be fooled into thinking Mississippi is flat.
Lunch stop at 52 miles. 16.1 average speed, 1,656 feet of climbing into a 12 mph SSE headwind. Credit goes to fellow coasters Captain, Jim & Bill.
Lunch stop at mile 52. As you can see the gulf SSE headwinds were a factor.
One of the things several riders commented on today were the beautiful lakes and pines forests similar to central and northern Wisconsin.
Tommorow we cycle 78 miles to Dauphin Island and enter our seventh state - Alabama.
