The authors have a feeling of euphoria after cycling 17 days and 1,065 miles to finally make it across the vast state of Texas. We entered Louisiana, the fifth state with less than 1,000 miles to go!! Getting closer to St. Augustine Beach 🏖
A key milestone for the authors was entering Louisiana. What we noticed was a more bike friendly speed limit of 55 mph vs. 75 mph on country roads in Texas. Last year we hammered on the negatives of Texas. This year, maybe beacause we were ready for them they didn't seem as bad.
On a positive note, we enjoyed the Rio Grande, Texas Hill country, epic wildflower bloom and BBQ. From El Paso to Silsbee their is an amazing diversity of scenery, history, culture and people in the great state of Texas.
We must be in Bayou country!
Last year the authors cycled coast 2 coast without a single flat tire!! This year we both have had four flats so far.
At dinner Rose is seen carrying a Margarita. Either Rose is really excited about the margarita or perhaps Adrian whispered something in her ear that caused that expression. We will never know 😁
Tommorow we cycle 91 miles to Opelousas.

It's all that crazy rain that is bringing the minuscule, flat producing, rubbish into your biking lanes. Best of luck avoiding more of the same during your last 1000 miles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. The good news is we have not had any flats since leaving Texas 😀
