Day 18 - Fort Hancock to Van Horn

Beautiful 74 mile ride with 1,900 feet of climbing.  We entered the Central Standard Time Zone.  The sights along the Rio Grande Valley in the morning were special.  More about this later...

Sunrise at Fort Hancock.  You can see the riders were eager to get started and enjoy the ride along the Rio Grande Valley.

The horses in the river valley were also enjoying the beautiful morning.

Adrian's bike even wanted to stop and take in the Rio Grande Valley with Mexico in the background.

As we were approaching Van Horn we saw this road sign.  It gives you perspective on the vastness of Texas.  It will take us nearly 1,065 miles to cycle across Texas.

As we cycled into Van Horn it was fitting we saw signs for a dollar store, adult beverages and the RV park we will be camping at for the evening.

Next up is a 73 mile ride to Marfa.  You guessed  it....we have a NE quartering headwind.  The authors believe we have had east head winds halfway though Arizona, New Mexico & so far in west Texas.

The good news we should have temperatures in the mid 70s and west winds this weekend and next week 👍
