On day 13 we had the good fortune of staying in a historic hotel and a 20 mph tailwind that blew us into our third state - New Mexico.
The historic Gladsen Hotel in Douglas is rich in history and a beautiful place. The owners and staff were very gracious to the 2019 coasters.

On our route today we cycled along the Chiricahua Mountain range most of the day. This area is rich in history. In 1886 Geronimo and the Apache Indians surrendered to the U.S. Army; which marked the end of the Indian wars.

The authors settle in for the evening in the lap of luxury in a private bedroom at this remote desert compound. There is a sense of nervous anticipation as the group prepares for what could be a grueling 93 mile ride to Columbus in the morning.
