Day 23 - Sanderson to Comstock

Challenging 81 mile ride with big west Texas rollers.  The highlights were meeting four amazing Brits for dinner in Sanderson and crossing the Pecos River.  This was a key milestone in that we are leaving the desert enroute to the Texas Hill country for bluebonnets, brisquit & BBQ.

It’s been a long time since someone made us laugh so long and hard as these four Brits.  The two on the right are doctors trying to set the world record of cycling around the world on a tandem.  They are ahead of schedule.  The two on the left are retired BBC producers.  The two sets did not know one another until they both happened into Sanderson, Texas the same day but hours apart. Of course, in true C2C tradition, they were invited to stay with us and enjoy dinner and breakfast which all four agreed was Brilliant.  Brilliant is British for Damn Good!

The next two photos are the last time we will be in the high plains desert.

A dry gulch along the route to Comstock.  Finally we are experiencing some warmer and pleasant weather just as we are leaving the desert.

On C2C there are four major river crossings; the Colorado, Rio Grande, Pecos and the Mississippi.  Today we crossed the Pecos.  This is a significant fom a climate standpoint.  The landscape is rapidly turning green with songbirds greeting us in the morning.

Tommorow we cycle 75 miles to Brackettville.
